So what do you think is the most common complaint I get from day to day in the city? It’s animals, especially dogs. Just for reference, let’s talk about the city ordinances that deal with cats and dogs.
1. Animals must have a vaccination and a tag affiming it.
2. Female dogs can’t run loose when they are in the heat cycle.
3. Vicious dogs must be restrained.
4. Noisy dogs are prohibited.
5. Rabid dogs must be confined. (DUH)
6. Dogs can not be found running at large.
Well all of the ordinances seem to be really clear. I know that we all love our animals and for the most part we treat them like family. Good for you!!! You should. We all just need to remember that we love our pets much more than others do and we all must be considerate of the rights of all. Take good care of your pet and please try to stay in the law. Have a good one!!!!!

Well, I think many people feel like me that the $55,000 payment for Buxton to give us 10 retailers names is too much money to spend. Even though I will not vote to spend that much money ay this time, I really do like the way they think. Listen to this: 1. They pull all the retail info on your community and decide what people are driving out of town to buy. 2. They compile a list of 10 retailers not currently in the city that would have the best chance to make it here (ex. could be restaurants, entertainment, retail stores with products we can not buy in Trenton.) 3. They do a promo package for the city and send it to the retailers on the list so that when a phone call is made, they know it’s coming.
This is their philosophy and in large part it is the way successful retail is accomplished; more than one store of any product keeps shoppers in town because they have all the choices they need in one place instead of having to leave town to have more choices. The more retail, the more jobs, the more money floating around town, the more spending, more retail moves in, the more jobs, the more money floating around town, etc……….!!!!!!!
Buxton offers some more less expensive packages, but with them comes less product. If one thing is for sure, it is that if sit on our hands here in Trenton, we will never move ahead and never have the entertainment, restaurant, and retail opportunities we need to remain a viable city. Maybe Buxton is not the answer but we need to find the answer. That is what we will spending our time trying to accomplish.

Well, I have been at this for three whole days now. What a great job I have. It’s awesome to be able to help people with their problems. I am finally settling in and will get to do some real good soon.
I am composing my first article for the newspaper and I am calling it “Message from the Mayor”. In it, I am asking people to start straightening up the city, shop in Trenton, and be positive when they speak of the city. We have many harder issues to tackle in the next three years so this is only a beginning. Let’s take it one step at a time and pretty soon we will see a great improvement.
Let me know how you feel. Hey, by the way, my hat is off to all the boy and girl scouts who spent their Saturday cleaning up the city. Great job!!!!!!!
See you soon, Tony

Yesterday was a great day in the City of Trenton and I wonder how many noticed? Did you know that Elvis, Patsy Cline, some world class BBQ cookers and the Special Olympics were all in town on Saturday. It was great.
The 2nd annual “Aunt Pearl” BBQ cookoff actually kicked off Friday night. I was there for about an hour and everyone seemed to be having a tremendous time. Wished I could have stayed. By the way, I understand that Trenton Light and Water did well in the judging. Congrats.
The Special Olympics got rolling at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Yours truly led everyone in the Pledge of Alligence and the National Anthem and then the games began. Not a great crowd for such a noble effort. The Kids were inspiring as always. Kudos to Charlie and his Pit Crew for what they do. I have seen them in action several times now and I am duly impressed. I hope the reason people do not attend is a publicity problem and not where the event is held. I love people with big hearts and I also know that it takes those kind of people to make things happen. In Charlie’s world, he makes things happen. Thanks to all the kids and to those “angels” that made their day special.
At 11:00, a new furniture store opened right off Court Square and it was such a momentous ocassion, Elvis showed up. I can’t remember the impersonator’s name but if you didn’t look at him, he sounded just like Elvis. He sang a variety of The King’s music for about 3 hours and then “left the building”. Cool. The big news actually is though, we have a new business in Trenton. We all want Trenton to grow and offer us more options but in order for that to happen, we have to give the options here in town a chance. Now, I already know what you are saying; “I can’t buy it here”, “They charge too much for it”, “The stores close before I can get there”. All of these things are probably true in some instances. But not always. All we are asking is for you to give the businesses in town a chance. Try shopping Trenton. Every 3 times you think about going out of town, stay in town once. Let’s just try. By the way, stop by Stormy’s Furniture. Nice store.
Last but not least, the Nitelite Theater hosted a performance of “As Always, Patsy Cline” last night in the Peabody Little Theater. It was an entertaining show (as are all Nitelite productions) and a good time was had by all of the over 200 people that attended. Talented cast and the young lady who played the lead role sounded and looked like Patsy. All of Patsy’s hits with a great and true story line. If you have never attended a Nitelite production, you have missed something wonderful that occurs in our city. We could lose them in the future to another town but that’s another blog. What a treasure. Last night’s show was great.
The Football team won Friday night, the Band finished first in their Class at UTM on Saturday night. What else happened I missed? We have a great city here. Let’s all band together to make it even better. Sorry for such a long diatribe, but Saturday “rocked” in the City. See you.

Well, this is new for me. I will try to let you have a little inside scoop as to what is going on in the Mayor’s office over the next few years here. Hopefully, we can have some meaningful dialouge that will be beneficial to all involved. I will on occasion misspell a word, make a grammarical error or just do something stupid. Bear with me.
As I have not yet taken office, I can not speak as the Mayor, but I am preparing to take office on October 8th. I have met with City officials, read the Ordinance Book and City Charter, and tomorrow I am going to set in on City Court.
My plan is the same as before and centers on the promotion and marketing of Trenton to try to persuade people, businesses and industry to come this way. Some basic cleaning up of the City is first on my docket. I am excited to be starting in a few weeks and look forward to serving all the citizens of Trenton the best way I can. I hope I can count on you to get on board and use your talents and skills to improve Trenton. Be good out there and I hope I hear from you soon. The Mayor - Elect.

This is the first post in Tony’s new blog. What you’ll find here in the days to come will be a mix of fact and opinion, based on the personal musings of Trenton’s Mayor-Elect. It’s a place where you can read what’s on Tony’s mind, and offer some feedback of your own. While this blog is in no way “official”, or representative of the City of Trenton, it can serve as a forum for you to learn about stuff from the mayor’s perspective.
We hope you enjoy your visits here, and we hope to keep you informed!
