About myself

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 1st, 1954. I attended Morrow Elementary School and Little Miami High School where I graduated in 1972. My father worked for Roadway Trucking and my mother was a librarian.

I attended the University of Tennessee Martin from 1972, and received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1977. It was at Martin where I met my wife, Kathi. She recieved her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982.

Kathi and I have two children. Our daughter, Emily, is a band director at Medina Elementary and Middle School. Ryan works in construction in Troy, Tennessee. Emily and her husband Matt live in Medina and have three children, Kizer, Katibeth, and Kannon. Ryan and his wife Elizabeth live in Milan and have a son named Andrew.

Starting in the Decatur County School System, I taught band, chorus, music theory, music history, civics, and geography until 1979. After that, I was in the Gibson County School System from 1980-91, and the Trenton Special School District from 1991-2007. I have lived in the City of Trenton since 1980 and currently reside at 1502 Margo Street.

My wife and I attend church at First Presbyterian on High Street in Trenton, where I serve as an Elder, and the choir director. I am currently serving on the Board of the West Tennessee Emmaus Community, which has about 5,000 members in the Jackson area. I have served as President of the West Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association and also on the board of the Tennessee Music Educator’s Association. I am also a member of the Greater Gibson County Chamber of Commerce.
